Bosses are large enemies with much more health, has more complex AI and gives player a challenge. Defeating bosses always grants rewards that help progressing the game. As of version 1.3 there are 17 new bosses. Players may need to a boss summoning item to summon a boss, and some bosses can only be summoned in a specific biome at a specific time.
In Expert Mode, each boss has their own Treasure Bag which contains unique items only exclusive to Expert Mode and additional items. However, Expert Mode bosses have increased stats and sometimes have more difficult AI and can be challenging to players.

The Rukh

Tiki Totem

Evil Corn

A boss that flies after the player, damaging the player with the leaves surrounding the Evil Corn. The boss can enter a phase where it becomes invulnerable by hiding itself in its own leaves, and then burrow underground and jump at the player's position to attack. While it is in a vulnerable state, it can drop popcorn when it is attacked. Popcorn restores 1 health. Ancient Dragon

Behaves like the Eater of Worlds. Burrows through the ground at high speeds and petrifies the player. When it has less than 50% of health left each piece of body can break and release a Mini Dragon. Minimap Icon - File:AncientDragon Head Boss.png Can be summoned using a Rusty Lantern |
Storm Jellyfish

Fungus Beetle

Heater of Worlds

Worm-like boss. Charges player with it's head and shoots flaming bolts from every body part. The bolts can burn the player. Wall of Shadows

Corruption variant of the Wall of Flesh that becomes accessible Hardmode. Like the Wall of Flesh, it spawns with Shadow Hands similar to the hungry that can damage the hungry. It can also shoot lasers from one of its eyes. When the Wall of Shadows reaches its second form, it fires faster, fires Shadow Beams, and spawns Shadow Steeds. Upon the Trinity being summoned, a triplet of three floating monsters will appear. Each of them can fly through blocks and shoot projectiles torwards the player.
